Veteran awarded a medal - Dominic Old

I had the privilege of being invited to the relaunch of Ringwood Veterans Hub, where I served as a project officer for a year. During my time there, I played a crucial role in restructuring the hub, managing the arts program, establishing its online presence, and successfully obtaining charity status.

Ringwood Veterans Hub serves as a valuable social network for veterans of all generations. It offers confidential advice, support, and access to various services through esteemed organizations such as the Armed Forces Covenant, SSAFA, Help for Heroes, Blesma, Combat Stress, and the Social Prescriber (NHS). Recently, the hub relocated to the Greyfriars Community Centre, ensuring better facilities for its members. It was originally based at Ringwood Library.

The relaunch was a momentous occasion, highlighted by a medal presentation to a 90-year-old veteran from the Parachute Regiment Association, honouring his remarkable service and age. I had the honor of capturing this proud moment in a photograph. Additionally, the Lord Mayor of Ringwood led a cake cutting ceremony, adding to the festivities.

Reflecting on my contributions to the growth of Ringwood Veterans Hub and beyond, I am immensely proud. I eagerly look forward to witnessing its continuous expansion and unwavering support by local volunteers for the local veteran community.
